Mayor Steve Bach’s office was represented by Chief of Staff, Laura Neumann at the Colorado Springs Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers 5K Run honoring the courage and dedication of first responders as well as our military men and women and their families.
The event first hosted in New York City to honor the NYC fallen firefighters, is now featured in 60 cities, typically with fire fighters participating in full 60-lb gear.
This year, NYC had over 30,000 participants.
In Colorado Springs, half of the money raised goes back to the Stephen Siller Foundation to honor Siller who lost his life on 9/11. The other half goes to the Colorado Springs Firefighter Foundation and the Pikes Peak Region Officers
Memorial. The Stephen Siller Foundation builds Smart Homes for triple and quadruple amputees from post 9/11.
Along with runners from the Springs and surrounding area, Neumann participated in the race with dozens of Colorado Springs and sister city firefighters.
