Inspiring and cultivating future City leaders is the main goal of the new Ticket to Success program. Ticket to Success is a program designed to identify middle schools students who demonstrate a potential for leadership and provide these students with a hands-on, experiential opportunity to enhance their skills through dynamic and professional mentoring activities provided by city and community leaders. In this program, students will gain an awareness of different careers within City government, identify personal leadership strengths, and network with community leaders to enhance future career skills.
Tuesday, November 13th was the first day of this four day process. Future visits will take place in the first quarter of 2013. Day 1 was spent on general familiarization and tours of City government buildings. The students watched the City Clerk’s media conference on City Council redistricting. After a lunch meeting with Mayor Bach, the students attended a City Council meeting. 14 students participated from Fox Meadow Middle School, the Galileo School of Math and Science, and Fountain Middle School.
