Mayor Bach recently spent lunchtime with members of the Colorado Springs Police Department. This Brown Bag Meeting also provided an opportunity to recognize Officer Nancy Palmer with the Mayor’s first “Above and Beyond” service award.
Officer Palmer, following a motorist assist response to a disabled vehicle, transported a senior citizen back to her home when her family could not.
Steve Cox, Chief Carey, officers and co-workers joined the Mayor in congratulating Nancy for going above and beyond in service to others.
During lunch, discussion centered around plans for transit, priorities based budgeting, the Downtown Solutions Team, thoughtful development and infilling.
Other topics included downtown cleanup efforts, outreach to shop owners, the Homeless Outreach Team and effective enforcement.
These Brown Bag Lunch programs provide City employees with an opportunity to meet with the Mayor in a relaxed setting to ask questions. Along with his upcoming citizen Town Hall Meetings, it is just one of many ways the Mayor is working to connect with the community.
Mayor Bach closed the lunch meeting by saying, “We’re working to find better ways to come together and get things done.”
