Mayor to present Spirit of the Springs Celebration award
to three local “Charter Friend” Award winners
Mayor Steve Bach will present a Spirit of the Springs Celebration award to the three local winners of “Charter Friend” awards, which are presented annually at the Colorado Charter Schools Conference. He will honor the following award recipients on Wednesday, April 18 at 1:30 p.m. at the City Administration Building, Suite 601. Councilmember Tim Leigh will also be present for the presentation.
- Colin T. Mullaney, executive director of Cheyenne Mountain Charter Academy and The Vanguard School, earned the Charter School Leadership Award for his influence in developing or maintaining a charter school, improving school accountability and performance, and driving other aspects of school excellence.
- Teresa Brown, 3rd and 4th grade teacher at the Academy for Advanced and Creative Learning in Colorado Springs School District 11, earned the Outstanding Charter School Teacher Award for being exceptionally dedicated to closing the achievement gap and preparing students for a bright future.
- Eileen Johnston , James Irwin Charter Schools, earned the Charter School Award for Operational Excellence for exceptional leadership in and commitment to charter school operational excellence in areas such as finance, human resources, accounting, and facilities.
The Spirit of the Springs Celebration Award is presented when a noteworthy achievement brings great honor and pride to the City of Colorado Springs or has been distinguished at a state, national or international level.
