Colorado Springs Mayor Steve Bach presented the first-ever Spirit of the Springs“Celebration” Award to Air Academy High School’s marching band for recently winning the state 4A marching band competition. Mayor Bach presented the award, designed by local company Glassical Designs, on Nov. 10 at a gathering in the school’s auditorium.
Air Academy’s marching band also fared well at the recent Bands of America super regional competition at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. On Saturday, Air Academy won first place in the Class AA section and placed 17th overall at the competition.
The Spirit of the Springs “Celebration” award is presented by the mayor of Colorado Springs and recognizes good news that typifies the excellence found in Colorado Springs.
