Mayor Bach to Present Award to Pine Creek High School Wrestling Team
Colorado Springs Mayor Steve Bach will present a Spirit of the Springs “Celebrate” Award to Pine Creek High School’s wrestling team today (March 1) for winning the State 5A wrestling team championship. The state title was Pine Creek’s first in any sport since the school opened in 1998.
Mayor Bach will meet with team representatives to present the Celebrate Award at 10 a.m. at the school (10750 Thunder Mountain Ave., 80908).
The Eagles were led by 106-pound champion Trenton Watson, a freshman, and had eight wrestlers finish in the top six to defeat second place team Pomona.
“We appreciate the dedication and discipline it takes to compete and succeed in the sport of wrestling,” said Mayor Bach. “We hope such students as these can become tomorrow’s City leaders.”
The Spirit of the Springs “Celebrate” award is presented by the Mayor of Colorado Springs. It recognizes a noteworthy achievement which has brought great honor and pride to the City of Colorado Springs or has been distinguished at a state, national or international level.
