Mayor Steve Bach and members of the Pikes Peak Region Mayors Caucus met with Colorado Governor Hickenlooper and CDOT Executive Director, Don Hunt, to discuss transportation issues and state highways in the Pikes Peak Region.
In attendence (L-R) were Travis W. Easton (Mayor of Monument) El Paso County Commission Chair Amy Lathen, Jeri Howells (Mayor of Fountain), Colorado Springs Mayor Steve Bach, Governor Hickenlooper, Marc A. Snyder (Mayor of Manitou Springs) and Tyler Stephens (Mayor of Green Mountain Falls).
At the second meeting of the Pikes Peak Region Mayors Caucus, members determined it was important to bring local transportation concerns to Governor Hickenloopers attention.
Discussion focused on the level of funding provided to the Pikes Peak Region and representation on the State Transportation Commission. The Pikes Peak Region Mayors Caucus believes this lack of funding is partially the result of our low level of representation on the Commission. They also believe a new appropriation of commissioners should be considered to better represent the second largest city and most populous county in the state.
Governor Hickenlooper is supportive of the Mayors Caucus and believes it is the right thing to do.
Known for the open-collared look, he also said he loved the ties worn by the Mayors of the Pikes Peak Region!
