Michael Sullivan is enthused to begin work as Colorado Springs new Human Resources Director, on Monday, February 6th. Mr. Sullivan replaces Ann Crossey, who retired December 31, 2011.
“I’m looking forward to working with the Mayor and his management team. They collectively bring new thinking to help make Colorado Springs the preeminent business and ‘quality of life’ location in the West,” said Sullivan.
Chief of Staff, Laura Neumann said, “After an exhaustive, two-month recruitment and interview process with over 140 applicants nationwide, it gives me great pleasure to welcome Michael Sullivan.”
“I am very fortunate for the opportunity to join the City team and look forward to applying my 33 years of people management experience to support such a wonderful organization,” Sullivan said.
Prior to accepting this position, Mr. Sullivan served as director of International Relations and International Security for Northrop Grumman, where he worked for 11 years. Sullivan started with Northrop as a senior manager of Human Resources for 600 employees, then moved up to director of Human Resources for more than 1,000 professionals. Subsequently, he was promoted to director of Human Capital Strategy, where he managed the Talent Management program for over 5000 geographically dispersed staff.
Sullivan spent 22 years at Raytheon in Human Resources prior to joining Northrop. For more than a decade of his time with Raytheon, he resided in Colorado Springs. His remaining tenure was spent in Washington, D.C., Massachusetts, Jordan, Iran and Saudi Arabia.
Sullivan is certified with the Human Resource Certification Institute as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), is a graduate of Six Sigma training, and is a member of the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM).
He and his wife, Diane, and their son, Matthew, have resided in Colorado Springs for 27 years. He serves on the Executive Board of Directors for the Community Partnership for Child Development (CPCD) a Colorado Springs on-profit organization that runs Early Head Start, Head Start, and Colorado Preschool Programs.
