Building community and sprucing up our parks is what the Mayor’s Spirit of the Springs Park Cleanups are all about. This past Saturday volunteers gathered for park cleanup number four to work in Bear Creek Park on 21st Street and Argus. Piles of rock were moved and trash picked up. Pitching in to help the Mayor were volunteers from Calvary Worship Center, Catholic Charities, Comcast, William Kurtz LTD and Urban Peak.
With 75 volunteers, the work was completed before noon. Thanks to Catholic Charities for providing lunch for all those who gave up their Saturday morning!
“We know citizens love their city. It’s part of what makes Colorado Springs great – it’s part of the Spirit of the Springs. But sometimes we don’t know how to give back. We hope these park cleanups will provide an organized way to make a difference,” said Donna Nelson, event organizer from the City’s Office of Economic Vitality and Innovation.

What should I bring? Water, sunscreen, a hat, comfortable shoes and your Spirit! Also, please complete the Volunteer Park Clean Up Release Form and bring it with you the day of the event.
