The second floor of the Colorado Springs Conservatory was jam-packed with local dignitaries, students, family, and friends when Mayor Steve Bach visited to present checks to four very special groups.
Last summer, the Mayor’s Cup golf tournament was started to serve as a Spirit of the Springs fundraiser for local organizations that contribute to the community. In order to be considered for the funding, the applicants must achieve the objectives of the Spirit of the Springs initiative which are: celebrate and connect Colorado Springs, cultivate future City leadership and encourage citizen involvement. The first four recipients are: Colorado Springs Conservatory ($10,000); Leadership Pikes Peak ($5,000); Colorado Springs Together ($5,000) and Pikes Peak Community College ($24,000).
Colorado Springs Conservatory Executive Director Linda Weise, Leadership Pikes Peak Board Chair R.D. Trinidad, Colorado Springs Together Director Bob Cutter, and PPCC Dean Taffy Mulliken were on hand to accept the checks from Mayor Bach.

The mission of the Colorado Springs Conservatory is to inspire, motivate, and challenge all students to aspire to their highest potential as artists and as human beings through arts immersion studies and community arts advocacy. The $10,000 donation will help the Conservatory become a permanent part of a vibrant Downtown.

Colorado Springs Together serves as the primary community organization bringing the spirit and substantial resources of businesses and citizens of the Pikes Peak Region together to restore the lives, homes and neighborhoods impacted by the Waldo Canyon Fire. The $5,000 donation will help to produce a documentation piece of all things related to the fire.

Pikes Peak Community College’s mission is to provide high quality educational opportunities accessible to all, with a focus on student success and community needs. The $24,000 donation will fund a two year, tuition only, scholarship to PPCC for four local students.
The event concluded with an incredible performance of a new Spirit of the Springs theme song composed by a graduate of the Colorado Springs Conservatory and performed by current students.
