On Friday, November 30th, hundreds of Mountain Shadows residents filled the grounds of the Wilson United Methodist Church to witness the lighting of their 30 foot high neighborhood Christmas tree. Following a countdown, Mayor Steve Bach, his wife Suzi, and Reverend David Hiester lit the tree.
In his welcoming remarks, Mayor Bach paid tribute to the firefighters and first responders who worked so hard in the neighborhood during the Waldo Canyon Fire. He also praised the families in the area and said, “the City will be here for you as long as it takes.”
Colorado Springs Together worked with the GESCO nursery in Franktown, Colorado to have the tree planted and ready to go for Friday night’s ceremony.
