Mayor Bach Greets First Free Parker

On Thursday, November 1st, Mayor Bach was on hand to welcome Gene Southerland into his free parking space. Gene, who owns Mr. G’s Hair Design Studios, has lived in the City for 50 years, deciding to stay after a tour at Fort Carson. This surprise is part of a new program where two Downtown parking meters will be randomly selected every day to offer free parking to Downtown patrons. Recently most of the parking meters in Downtown were converted to 2 hour meters to allow customers more time to shop and eat.

“This is an innovative idea for City government to bring a little fun to the downtown experience. It’s a simple way to brighten someone’s day and thank them for visiting downtown,” said Mayor Bach.
