On Friday, December 21st, Mayor Steve Bach attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Greccio Housing’s first smoke-free affordable housing property in Colorado Springs, the Uintah Park Apartments.
Mayor Bach spoke about the impact of affordable housing, “It’s critical on so many levels: it helps address the issue of homelessness in the community, it helps place people on a firm ground as they search for a job, it gives people a sense of ownership and dignity, and it can help to revitalize a neighborhood.”
Greccio Housing is a non-profit organization that has served low-income individuals and families in the Pikes Peak region since 1990. The mission is to provide stable, safe, affordable housing, and to create supportive opportunities and services for the residents to enhance their individual growth.
After purchasing Uintah Park Apartments, Greccio made significant investments to modernize and improve the property. Uintah Park Apartments will now be a major anchor in helping to revitalize the surrounding neighborhood and will create a healthier living environment for its residents.
