This morning, Mayor Steve Bach met with Mayors of the Pikes Peak Region and El Paso County Commission Chairs for the first Pikes Peak Region Mayors Caucus.
Participants included Mayor Blair Bartling (Calhan), Mayor Bruce Brown (Cripple Creek), Mayor Travis Easton (Monument), Mayor Jeri Howells (Fountain), Mayor Marc Snyder (Manitou Springs), El Paso County Commission Chair Amy Lathen and Teller County Commission Chair Jim Ignatius.
Held at the City of Colorado Springs Administration building, this gathering was a “get acquainted meeting” to exchange ideas, build consensus and collaborate on regional issues. Mayor Bach organized this group after attending the Denver Metro Mayors Caucus.
“Next month we’ll meet to talk about the Colorado Department of Transportation and funding for the entire Pikes Peak region. We will then, as a group, ask for a meeting with Governor Hickenlooper,” Mayor Bach said.
“Our hope is that this group of Mayors and Commissioners will be able to effectively address the larger issues facing the region.”
The next meeting of the Mayors Caucus will be in March.
