Jeremy Rice Spirit of the Springs Award Presentation

On Friday, October 5th, Mayor Bach and his wife Suzi, along with Economic Vitality Specialist Donna Nelson, presented a Spirit of the Springs Award to Colorado Springs Early Colleges student Jeremy Rice. State Senator Keith King was also on hand to present Jeremy with a citation from the Colorado State Senate.

Heading to school on the morning of August 30th, the driver of Jeremy’s bus fell out of his seat. Through the window, Jeremy saw a semi-truck heading straight for the bus. Rushing forward from his seat eight rows back, Jeremy grabbed the wheel, engaged the parking brake, and brought the bus to a safe stop.

Jeremy’s quick thinking saved lives and averted a major accident. His Spirit of the Springs Award read: “For bravery and quick action in the face of emergency”. Please join Mayor Bach and his wife Suzi in congratulating Jeremy Rice for his heroic actions.
