On Tuesday afternoon, Mayor Bach attended a Back to School Thank You Rally hosted by Coronado High School. Coronado was the staging ground for much of the equipment and many of the media conferences during the Waldo Canyon Fire. Students and staff gathered on the football field to spell out Coronado for an aerial photograph.
This event was an opportunity for the faculty and students to thank those who worked to protect the community and demonstrate that the school and its west side residents are back in session, and better than ever.
Mayor Bach threw on a Coronado t-shirt and joined in the event. He met with teachers and administrators, thanked students, and even took part in the aerial photograph. At the end of event, the Mayor met with a young lady, Erin Noonan, who was one of the 31 students whose house had been damaged or destroyed. The Mayor assured the student that the community stood with her and her family as they begin the rebuilding process.
