KIM CERJAN TO RECEIVE SPIRIT OF THE SPRINGS AWARD

On Monday, April 13, 2012 at 9am, Mayor and Suzi Bach will present a Spirit of the Springs “Celebration” Award to Kim Cerjan at Doherty High School. The school is located at 4515 Barnes Road in Colorado Springs CO 80917.

Kim Cerjan, a senior at Doherty High School and captain of the girls basketball team, was selected by CBS Sports as 1 of 16 girls nationwide to compete in a National 3 point shooting contest at the NCAA Final Four in New Orleans. With support from her Colorado Springs community, Kim was one of the eight girls selected to win a trip to compete in the High School Slam Dunk and 3 Point contest.

Kim was the KOAA Athlete of the Week in June 2011 and the KKTV Classroom Champion on March 8, 2012. Kim was also selected to play in “The Show” at the Pepsi Center on April 6, 2012. “The Show” is an All-Star Game with 20 of the State’s best players.

Mayor Bach presents Spirit of the Springs “Celebration” Awards for noteworthy achievements which have brought great honor and pride to the City of Colorado Springs or been distinguished at a state, national or international level.
