On April 26, Mayor Bach sent this letter to Temple Beit Torah:
April 26, 2012
Dear Mr. Van Buren and the Members of Temple Beit Torah:
On behalf of the City of Colorado Springs, I write to you today with a heavy heart, not able to imagine the sadness, distress and outrage you must have gone through at the news of your temple being defaced. It must have been especially disturbing for those of you who saw firsthand the damage to the building.
Your community is thinking of you. Those with whom I have spoken have expressed the same disappointment over this incident. Please know that your neighbors, your city and its leaders are with you.
We may never know for sure what motivated this action. Be assured that our Police Department will continue to investigate this crime. Our community cannot and will not tolerate this sort of deplorable behavior.
Sincerely,
Steve Bach
Mayor
